Where plastic container can go
- OvenVerdict: YES, WITH LIMITSYes, with limits. Use a plastic container only if its manufacturer explicitly labels it for conventional oven use and you follow every listed limit. A microwave-safe label alone is not enough. If the oven rating is missing or unclear, transfer the food to oven-safe glass, ceramic, or metal cookware.
- MicrowaveVerdict: YES, WITH LIMITSYes, but only when the specific container is labeled microwave-safe or comes with microwave heating directions. Move food out of unlabeled takeout or delivery tubs and cold-storage containers before heating. Follow the container and microwave instructions, including any lid or vent directions.
- DishwasherVerdict: YES, WITH LIMITSYes, if the container or its manufacturer says it is dishwasher-safe. Put top-rack-only items on the upper rack and secure lids or light pieces so they cannot fall through. If there is no dishwasher guidance, hand-wash it; a microwave-safe mark alone is not approval for dishwasher use.
