    Direct spraying can leave enough liquid to run toward ports and speaker or microphone openings. Applying an approved cleaner through a wipe or cloth gives better control over the amount on the phone.

Why Advice Conflicts

The rule that alcohol always ruins a phone screen is too broad. Apple and Google allow 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes on supported phones, while Samsung allows an approved alcohol-based solution applied to a microfiber cloth.
