Can I Ignore a Frayed Phone Charging Cable?
Verdict:
DON'T IGNORE
No. Once the insulation has split and you can see wire, the cable is finished. CPSC’s rule for a damaged cord is to replace it and never to tape it up, and that goes double for the cord that plugs into the wall. This is a cheap fix that stays cheap only while it is the cable that is damaged.
