What Should I Do Now?
Step 1: Look at where the damage is
Phone end, adapter end, or the cord going into the wall. The last one is the one that carries mains voltage and the one to deal with first.
Step 2: Take it out of circulation properly
Cut the connector off before you bin it. A cable left in a drawer gets used again by whoever needs one at midnight.
Step 3: Check the port while you are at it
Shine a light into the phone’s socket. Discolouration or a plug that no longer clicks means the damage has spread past the cable.
Step 4: Buy a certified replacement

Why Does a Frayed Cable Matter?
